Educational Programs

“Thank you for taking our class climbing. It was the best day of school all year.” A Middle School Student. Tree climbing creates an environment where students find within themselves motivation, personal courage and success at something previously unimagined. With freshly kindled enthusiasm and in a hyper-sensory state they literally experience their world and the forest with new perspective.

We take students of all ages climbing, including university classes. Typically groups are between 25 and 30 students, and are broken into 3 to 4 rotations. One rotation climbs with us, while the other two experience another aspect of the forest with teachers or chaperones. The Andrews is constantly developing new trails and interpretive stations for teachers and students to enjoy and experience.

Check out this documentary about Canopy Connections to get an idea of what our educational climbs are like! Canopy Connections is a program that has partnered with the University of Oregon for nearly a decade to help university students develop curriculum for middle schoolers who visit the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest.
